It's interesting to try and convey the nuances of a vast topic (that you yourself only vaguely grasp now) to someone with just enough knowledge to get the basics, but still viewing things from outside. This business of Jesus being divine was a subject of lots of follow-ups.

His final question, as we pulled over: "So what are you then? Catholic or Jewish?" (I'd explained the issue of the Jewish kids, and thoughts of conversion.) "Remember the thing about Jesus' divinity? Well, you've kind of got to give that up along with the bacon."

I grew up going to both catholic and baptist churches. Catholic didnt feel rite to me. It seemed like they were all about money, rules etc. I was constantly pushed to be an altar boy. Thank God my parents said no! Baptist, Canaan Baptist in Harlem, NY to be exact was great!
