Incidentally, I'm 100% not mocking this idea. If this is what somebody needs to get their head straight, then by all means, do it. I just think it's interesting society has come to this.

This came up as an island friend half-seriously proposed doing something similar for the San Juan Islands. We sketched it out (mostly for laughs), and then she started doing real research on the idea and found this. When it turns out your inside joke is really a thing.

I studied evangelical Christians in college. What surprises me most about this program and church is the quality of the website. Not that long ago, many churches didn't even have websites... or they looked like Berkshire Hathaway's.

That promo video is pretty good, as is the site. Also, 473 acres! That's not lunch money, even in Ohio. Maybe this thing makes a pile of cash.

Yup! I guarantee you they make more money in a year than many tech startups. It's like scaling religion – 22 locations and growing.

Yes, I recall listening to a podcast recently (maybe
@ThisAmerLife) where they interviewed what could only be called a religious entrepreneur: two young evangelicals who raise money for a church, try to create it, raise more money, etc. A startup, but for God. Trippy.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
Yeah it was the latest series of “startup” the podcast by gimlet media. I studied to be a preacher and then got into startups so this is an unusual niche that I know a lot about. A lot of the same personality traits are required to be good in either category.
