What's in DC? Is it worth visiting? I haven't been there since high school, and have the opportunity to fly and stay on someone else's dime. Not really into the tourist thing. I'm not hugely tempted, but am open to being convinced.

There are too many memorials. The Lincoln memorial, however, is splendid in person.

This is beautiful, short book to read before going to Mt.

Definitely go and do the tourist thing, at least all along the Mall. There's a lot of history there, and it's some of the best history of all humanity and it's our patrimony. Soak it up and savor it, at least once.

Or you could go visit the Tomb of the unknown soldier, visit the Marine Corps Museum, see the Iwo Jima Monument, and then go visit the Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington monuments. Other that those and the Smithsonian Institute centers, everything else is meh.

Plus, people are stupid. I'd stay away from epicenters of stupidity like the Senate, Capitol Hill, and the Whitehouse.

Streak through the Lincoln Memorial reflection pond. Let others decide what it means. Maybe you can even get a corporate sponsor
