Nobody cares that I’ve been working full time since I was 18. I didn’t go to college at all and I’m locked out of every decent paying career. That was my choice. I decided I couldn’t afford college. I guess I was right.

Not that long, here in the UK we had free college, paid for by taxation. They even gave you free money to live on. It's still that way in Scotland

Depending on the details, that can either be a good or bad solution. If more than (say) 30% of a society is going to a 4-year uni, or if many of these folks are going into mostly useless fields, it's likely a bad solution.
