Oh, the media didn't like him alright. In fact, some political comics at the time are eerily familiar to those made about groups such as Black Lives Matter today.

Who knows and who cares. There’s a reason he got his own holiday. This wasn’t a popular thing with these politician. It was a people’s movement to recognize this man.
