Last thought: I do not regret enrolling in grad school. But I did a LOT of research before going. I worked way backward from my goal—teach/mentor undergrads, conduct research, and write write write—and saw that the phd wasn’t necessary, per se, but it was the most direct path.

I want to go to grad school but my multiple disabilities makes me have more bad days than none. It was easier when I was younger to concentrate in school but I’m in pain everyday now.

I get that people are always saying this. But it's also demoralising for those of us that miss academia / cannot get a job in our field because it requires a Masters (talking about International Relations or Business) to hear everyone talk about how awful grad school is.

I’d rather keep it real and depressing then lie to you and say grad school is great and you’re guaranteed a job after, you know?
