    Kaggle is famous for machine learning competitions. Less well known is our datasets platform, which is a treasure-trove of great datasets (). Over the coming months, I'm going to be Tweeting interesting data from it to showcase what's there.

    Playing around with a coding project and ran into a tough caching issue. Sharing my solution in case it's useful to others: take out the trash, play with my son, make a coffee and have a snack. Solution worked perfectly!

    Was interested in better understanding COVID-19 compared with other leading causes of deaths. At the moment, COVID-19 is less deadly than heart disease and cancer but kills more often than road deaths and suicide in countries like the US, UK and Israel

    I've started maintaining a rich country-level COVID panel on Kaggle It has 107 columns, including metrics like cases and deaths, vaccination rates, percentage of sequences that are delta strain, mobility data and more. It updates four times per day

    The competition has been a longstanding side project for (from before he joined the Kaggle team) along with , Isa and David. There's a huge amount of thought behind it: From creating a novel sim to choosing a palette that works for the color blind.

    Starting August 2nd, Kaggle is hosting "30 days of ML",an event focused on teaching newbies the basics of machine learning in 30 days (1 hour per day). No coding experience required: the course starts with the basics of Python. You can sign up here:
