  1. Disaster? It's certainly stressful when a key "team member" goes down. One of our 40 GHz R&S VNA's woke up sick in the morning. It took 2 days of time and an eBay VME bus extender card to find the fault in a VCO (a cracked capacitor). Fixed (again) 🥳

A tree antenna? Does it work? You never need to guess an antenna's performance, that's why we test. See measured results for yourself at CONTEST WINNERS

Win a FREE Tree Antenna. Be a new follower or retweet any of our tweets before Monday morning, and you can win 1 of 3 Tree Antennas. Picked at random! Yes, it's a real antenna with an SMA connector.

  4. Seasons greetings! In the front office we have an LPDA Christmas tree, some whiskey and some whisky. Does anyone else still have a "hospitality tray" for their customers anymore? It may be old fashioned, but it's here to stay.

  5. We've just posted test results and 4-Dimensional gain plots of the LPDA-600-X-POL antenna. It performs well from 650 MHz to 3 GHz and doubles as a Christmas tree. Shown with a bottle of scotch for accurate scaling.

  6. We've just posted test results and 4-Dimensional gain plots of the UWB-2 Vivaldi antenna. It performs well from 500 MHz to 11 GHz.

  7. Here is a 915 MHz bazooka balun (sleeve balun) we created from copper water pipe. This is used for testing tiny 915 MHz PIFA antennas (for small coin cell sized radio sensors) so as to remove the influence of a large attached test coax.

  11. The Raspberry Pi 3 B+ antenna showcases our new 4 Dimensional plotting capability. Here is a animated 3D swept frequency plot using time as the 4th dimension. Video-scrub back and forth to WiFi frequencies of interest. The full write-up is

  12. An eagle flies in the chamber! Actually, we were just testing an eagle themed antenna. Notice where the center of rotation is ... it's at the base of the eagle's tail feathers, the presumed phase center. See the radiation patterns at

  13. Here is a great animation showing a RHCP/LHCP polar pattern of a spiral antenna progressing with frequency over a large 300 to 6000 MHz swept vector gain test. Evaluated in our far field chamber.

  14. We posted another interesting antenna test example. This is a large circularly polarized PCB spiral antenna by the talented @ihagster , and he will be offering them for sale. Our detailed chamber test results are here

  15. Happy Halloween everyone. Pumpkins and an antenna? Why not? Black and orange are signs of Fall and now the cooler weather is in the air. Everybody loves a great antenna this time of year. The LPDA antenna is courtesy of

  16. 3D printing microwave antennas has gone well, and chamber testing proves they perform to spec. Here is a new "smoothing" technique using epoxy. This may be more "environmentally friendly" than solvent smoothing. More results soon

  17. Aren't these capped on the wrong end 😲 While we appreciate the low cost of this 1000 piece batch of eBay SMAs, it does seem misguided to provide protective caps on the solder pins! What do you think?
