My latest: In June, 2016, two hit-and-run drivers killed two San Francisco bicyclists just hours apart. One driver remains in jail five years later with no trial while the other recently settled his case after spending just 16 days behind bars.https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/bayarea/heatherknight/article/Two-cyclists-killed-Two-drivers-arrested-And-in-16520656.php …

In all fairness it was Gascon that cut that deal. But it still sounds like it was incompetence from the DAs office that got him a light sentence and incompetence seems to still haunt the current DAs office.

No the settlement for no additional jail time beyond the 16 days just occurred this summer. It was negotiated by the current DA.

It was Gascon who charged one defendant with murder and the other with manslaughter. It sounds like one defendant could afford an expensive lawyer and the other one couldn’t. I don’t think Heather is mad about people with money getting better outcomes in court.

The other guy is charged with committing felonies when he then killed a person with a vehicle leaving the scene. The other guy is a rich prick who had a private lawyer, made 300000 bail. Typical US justice
