Imagine a city with the same population as Minneapolis, New Orleans, Lisbon or Lyon completely destroyed, with 90% of the buildings shelled and the whole population hiding in basements for cover. That's what is happening in Mariupol right now.

Congress should at least wait until the pandemic is over before pretending it never happened instead of not funding it while it’s still surging around the globe.

I just learned that only ~6% of medical schools fully teach post-viral issues like ME/CFS. This is why so many doctors seem to be just learning about viral-onset issues for the first time - because they literally are! This requires an urgent curriculum change.

like the world wasn’t doing all that amazing pre-pandemic but I find it harder and harder to counter feelings of hopelessness and pointlessness these days… my faith in humanity and our ability and will to help others has been shredded in so many ways

All the depressing tweets are staggering global, existential problems and all the “timeline cleanse” positive news is so, so tiny (still joyful, but tiny), like a pic of a cute dog. I appreciate the attempt to mitigate doomscrolling but wow the world sucks!!!

People focus on things like defense spending as the reason why the US doesn't have universal healthcare because Lockheed Martin is an easier villain than the AMA, but one of those entities is a lot more responsible for you not being able to afford your medicine than the other.
