this is a boring question but has anyone proposed replacing car tax with nationwide road pricing? it would mean ppl who rarely use car or only use rural roads would save hundreds of pounds, which is both fair & (for Tories) politically wise, since ppl in London would pay more)
Even lumping it onto fuel duty would make sense. Car tax reduces the marginal cost of every additional road journey.

Though car tax isn't all that high. What would make a bigger difference would be if insurers were able to price journeys.
