Not fully centralised; Presumably when you set up an opennic DNS server you could generate .bit zone directly from blockchain?

The distinction is between an end user trusting some provider of their choice vs being required to trust a single provider.

Most BTC users don't run a full node, but any can if they really want to; similarly most .bit users won't run a namecoin node.
