Netflix took away communal tv watching. There is no longer any urgency to watch shows which means people can't really discuss them.
To be honest, I don't remember people at work *ever* discussing TV drama. Sports & Reality TV, sure.

When I was in corp IT back in early 90s, we discussed STNG episodes every week at the department meeting.

I entered the workforce in '94. I think it was dying by then. I associate it with 80s, Dallas etc.
