@mr_archenemy@graaaaaagh possibility 2: presence of several cultures reduces social pressure to adhere to virtues of any one of them. -
@mr_archenemy@graaaaaagh possibility 3: not belonging clearly to any one culture disconnects one from past & future generations. -
@mr_archenemy@graaaaaagh I can't say I find any of those very convincing, myself. But with a bias towards tradition, just about plausible.
