The bugman focuses on 3d printing because at least he can conceptualize what he imagines to be the process - "you hit the button and the thingy comes out of the magic box, right?"

Their conception of processes is purely symbolic: button - machine - result. The idea that one *designs* these things, and that that design capability makes the magic box itself merely a time-saver, is foreign to their understanding of metaphysics

When you start talking about how 3d printing sucks for serious firearms dev bc of strength issues with polymer, and you can do better with a Dremel and a brick of 6061 aluminum, they look at you and mentally slot you as an Evil Wizard.
