I spent a chunk of the weekend arguing with people suffering or perpetrating misunderstandings over the Tommy Robinson events. The order restricting publication of his case has now been lifted and there is a very good local news report here.https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/news/leeds-news/tommy-robinson-jailed-couldnt-report-14704946 …

Well we don't know precisely what he was saying on his facebook livestream, but if, say, he linked the defendants to others in other cases who were convicted, that would certainly be enough. In practice, UK journalists do not report at all on jury trials until they finish

Do you think the judge knew precisely what he was saying on his Facebook livestream before he was sentenced?

"The video footage was played to Judge Geoffrey Marson QC as Robinson sat in the dock."https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/news/leeds-news/tommy-robinson-jailed-facebook-live-14718619 …

Again, it's the _broadcasting_ that was the contempt of court issue, not the recording. There's a question over the arrest for "breach of the peace" (which he was not charged with). Police here tend to do that with very little provocation.
