"He was warned to stop reporting on Muslim pedophile operations, but he wouldn't shut up.
So we shut him up, OK?"

Looks like TR won't be able to do that anytime soon, though...
-
I would have liked to see him, or someone like him who was prepared to take on the establishment and get called a racist, do some actual investigation, instead of chasing the ones who _have already been arrested and charged_
-
It's very striking to me that, while we have seen horrific stories from a bunch of English towns with large Pakistani populations, we haven't seen any from Luton - which is TR's home town and mine. Is that because it isn't happening, or because no-one's looking?
-
Horrifying that you'd have to ask.
-
Well, asking is racist. It's saying that because Luton has a large Pakistani population, we should be worrying. So nobody asks out loud. But Robinson could have, and I'm mystified that he didn't.https://news.sky.com/story/grooming-gang-convictions-84-asian-say-researchers-11164589 …

Is it a bad system? Buggered if I know. Trial by jury is a good principle, but the details are hard: in the US it seems to be assumed that intelligent and successful people always get out of jury duty, here a bit less so, perhaps because of this difference.
-
The details are very hard, I agree.
-
Right. For better or worse, this is how English law works, at least since 1981, and I think the older common law was not far different. Calling it a cover-up, when a bunch of similar cases were very loudly reported as soon as the trials ended, is misleading.
