  4. My canes used to have a rack on the wall in my room; those racks where you can hang mops and broomsticks with a clip? but eventually it broke and now my canes are just thrown in the closet or in the corner of my room, or folded and kept in a bag.

When I’m not using mine, it charges in the dining room, and I use it as a dining chair at the table. I saw a double bike rack for garages online where one was on bottom and one on top and I wondered if maybe anyone had a “bike rack” for their chairs!

WHEELCHAIR USERS particularly if you have multiple wheelchairs or maybe a part-time wheelchair user that only uses their chair on occasion... How/where do you store your wheelchairs?

tomorrow is disability day of mourning after a year where ableist policies and callous disregard for human life killed hundreds of thousands of disabled people at every turn, we were reminded that preventable deaths were acceptable so long as they were disabled or elderly people

As March comes I want to acknowledge the disabled, chronically ill, and immune compromised folks who have spent the entire year inside, who have suffered lack of care from health care providers because of the pandemic, &who have been so resilient in a time we shouldn’t have to be

I don't know about you, but disabled people being largely ignored in the vaccine rollout, and seeing the news that disabled people make up 60% of the UK's Covid deaths vanish from view, alongside the normalisation of daily eugenics is getting to me deeply today.

recent bad covid takes i’ve seen: - “everyone vulnerable has been vaccinated so why can’t we just go back to normal already” - planning holidays/parties for june 21st - talking about having time to “get hot” - saying u can’t wait to never think about covid ever again

your impatience reads as selfish instead of spending your days complaining about wanting to go back to “normal” - maybe help make that happen? (staying at home, spreading awareness, donating to charities, not contributing to numbers, getting vaccinated)

Does reading a full synopsis of a movie or watching a YouTube video where the movie is described in detail with accompanying clips from the movie count as having “watched the movie”? If not, is there a way to shorten “I know the full synopsis and saw clips”?

📚BOOK COVER REVEAL!📚 made my wildest dreams come to life on this cover. Preorder: I'll be writing more in-depth about the importance of disability representation on the cover in my next newsletter. Subscribe:

Book promo graphic. "Demystifying Disability by Emily Ladau, available now for pre-order." A swirly arrow is pointing to a tiny illustrated version of me smiling and waving, a white woman, with a thick head of curly brown hair, wearing glasses, a pink v-neck with white polka dots, jeans, purple sneakers, a Star of David necklace, and sitting in a power wheelchair. Below is the cover, a teal background with 6 rows of people of diverse races, gender identities, body types, and disabilities. Text on the cover reads "Demystifying Disability: What to Know, What to Say, and How to be an Ally - Emily Ladau." Below the cover text reads "cover art by Tyler Feder!" And next to the cover, text reads: "An approachable guide to being a thoughtful, informed ally to disabled people, with actionable steps for what to say and do (and what not to do) and how you can help make the world a more accessible, inclusive place." At the bottom, it says "Preorder at https://bit.ly/demystifyingdisability."

My first therapist told me you can't heal trauma while it's happening. You can learn to identify it, you can learn coping skills, but heal? You can't heal a wound with the knife still in it, yeah? We have not even nearly reached the "heal" point here. We're still in the trauma.
