It's EXTREMELY boring but it's also absolutely par for the course if you write for a women's outlet. Even the difference in credit that I get when I write something for Gizmodo or Splinter versus Jezebel? Astronomical.

Also the numbe of times I'm a "journalist" when I write for Gizmodo or Splinter but a "blogger at Jezebel" when I write for Jezebel? Oh hell yeah. You bet. I've written about the anti-vax movement for years. I wrote a fuckin' book. And still! This shit!

Anyway! I'm cranky about it both because it's unprofessional, and because if I'm going to do the work of regularly checking in on people in the worlds I cover, so that I can break news about them, it'd be nice if that work didn't get erased over and over.

Stay tuned next week when I drop a big feature about this same world and then deal with a deluge of harassment because, you know, that's par for the course for us too.

So frustrating. Earlier this year, the Times completely re-reported an original profile I had done last year, hitting all the same themes and beats, without a mention or a link, even though they'd clearly read mine. And I know I'm hardly the only one.

In light of this, I suggest that the NYT change their tag line: “You won’t get credit, but you will get the measles”
