ADHD peeps... How do you convince your brain that it's time for you to stop whatever you're doing and go to bed on time — especially when you're busy doing Something Interesting™?

I've tried doing more passive things after a certain time like watching television or gaming. That seems to help a lot. Until I see something that ignites some radical new idea that makes me stay up until 2am anyway. Which is often. So...um...nevermind. I don't have an answer.

Books are great for this! Reading in bed is naturally self-limiting, you'll eventually just pass out and drop your book on the floor

seconding this reading in bed has become such a soothing ritual, and always leads to the most soothing sleep even when I’m caught reading until the earlier hours of the morning

I agree that reading before bed is great... It's finding ways to stop doing the Interesting or Important Things that I hyperfocus into doing late at night that I'm struggling with. Once I'm IN bed, I'm often fine. It's GETTING there that's the issue.

I get that! I'm a big fiction lover, so the right book is a first class Interesting Thing for me, but I still absolutely forget to stop the others in time. I have to incentivize: finish step 4 on project, make bowl of ice cream, dontcheckphone, open book
