On top of this, have any of you ever suffered from the inability to read? I have essentially reached the point of forcing myself to ready to the point of frustration. What were some things you did to make it easier for you? I've not read a book to the end in years and I hate it!https://twitter.com/uhoh_romance/status/1332981514074689537 …

Oh there's a whole explanation for this that my Dr gave me! ADHD ppl's eyes move faster than NT's, and they pause at focal points for half the average time. So we read faster but comprehension goes down, meaning we end up having to reread pages, get frustrated and give up. Yay

They measured this with eyetracking tests while asking ppl to read, etc. My coping mechanisms are AUDIOBOOKS

And for online articles etc I've got a text-to-voice plug-in on my browser, so I listen to long articles while eg cooking or whatever.
(Oh, and NT = neurotypical)1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 1 polubiony -

Can I ask how do you deal with the like, best description I can think of here, audio white noise? I’ve found that very often audiobooks/podcasts get fuzzy if I am in a position where I’m not forced to focus which is basically driving.

I usually only listen when I'm doing brain-dead things like cleaning around the apartment, walking the dog, commuting, brushing teeth and getting ready for bed, etc...
