The Oatmeal is probably wrong about the Mantis Shrimps range of vision. Our best guess is that they have a relatively similar spectrum of vision, but require less processing to identify specific colours. I would assume this is because they have tiny brains but need the info.

But to be fair I'm pretty sure the comic is older than the research that suggests this.
