People who are capable of turning their brains on on command, being super productive on a thing of their choice for an hour, and then switching off & relaxing afterwards. How do you do it. Literally. How. My brain has zero chill and only knows "do nothing" or "DO ALL THE THINGS"

Sometimes if I'm having a good day, I put on a movie in the background, my fav motivation playlist, and with specific tasks I'm able to then hyperfocus. It's semi on demand, and very draining, but very nice and exhilarating to be super productive for an hour!

Oh wow, I'd definitely find having a movie playing at the same time far too distracting. Like, I can't even listen to instructions if there's music playing in the background
The motivation playlist definitely works though — but it has to be instrumental lol!1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 0 polubionych -

its the only way for me! if i have silence or just music, my mind wanders and bounces with too many thoughts and tracks. having a movie/show on repeat + music + conversation going on the side was the only way i got my math homework done as a kid

according to my utrednings-person it's pretty common with a specific expression of ADHD (which blew my mind! im not alone!) - she said "like distracting your peripheral attention so it doesnt steal your focus as much" and that sort of... was a cool description.

I recognize this so much - I ALWAYS listen to music, podcasts etc, otherwise my brain goes full beehive and I can't focus/sleep. Since I have tinnitus I've mostly thought about it as a coping mechanism against that, until recently

Omg, I'm exactly the same. The more focus I need the flashier and repetitive noise I need on a secondary screen. For casual focus I've recently learnt that walking videos are perfect. Music let's me sleep as well. But my partner hates when music is playing while she is sleeping

I cannot deal with stuff flashing on another screen because my brain goes OHMYGODSHINYTHING every time it goes off, and I absolutely cannot focus
But absolutely shit yes to needing music to sleep... Brain is waayyy too loud otherwise!
