Object permanence and ADHD brains is totally a thing. We forget to check in with friends/family constantly. It doesn't mean we love them any less, but if something isn't literally right in front of us, we just... forget. Brain is simply focused on what IS right in front of us.

I experience this too! But I've been warned that "Object permanence" is a very specific medical term that should be avoided in this context. "Object constancy" may be an alternative, but that's also controversial.

You're totally right, and @TheeDoctorB pointed it out to me earlier too! (Coincidentally I also mentioned the whole "Out of sight, out of mind" thing as well...) I'm going to do some more reading as I haven't found a better term either, but def let me know if you find one!
