I was watching @SistersMovie with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler last night, and it made me reflect on ADHD symptoms (esp in women), how much we see them shown and normalised in movies — and particularly so in comedies, where we learn to laugh at them. #NeurodiverseSquad #ADHD
Tina Fey's character is a masterclass in "Woman with blatantly undiagnosed ADHD who has obviously struggled and failed at so much in life, has literally every single textbook symptom and oh my god how has this poor woman not been diagnosed and properly supported yet?!"
They get labelled as "quirky" or "wild" or "irresponsible" or whatever, and we laugh at how bad they are at coping with life — not realising just how common this is IRL (minus the punchlines) and how much these women are absolutely screaming for help without anyone realising it.
