Something I find interesting with some of the CV-advice discussions I've seen on Twitter is how different CV conventions are from country to country. Things like CV length, using a photo or not, including references or not, etc etc. What are the conventions like in your country?

To me a cover letter is very much welcomed. For me a CV is a place to list your job experience and achievements, and a cover letter is to be more specific about you, the job and company you are applying for. As everything, it depends on the job level!
Yeah totally agreed that it depends on the job level! I guess I was more talking from my own perspective as a senior, but definitely agree that it's more relevant for more junior people who may not have as much experience or a folio that speaks for itself.

Agree, I likely wouldn't do a cover letter (or design test) anymore at my seniority.

Yes exactly!
in lower levesl, I dont need to know their blind alligence to the company but more like what they like to do what excites them, reading that excites me back! Cover letter should not be a standard for every role, only some, same as "skill tests"
