Something I find interesting with some of the CV-advice discussions I've seen on Twitter is how different CV conventions are from country to country. Things like CV length, using a photo or not, including references or not, etc etc. What are the conventions like in your country?

I was always told, for UK jobs at least, that it should include an objective, experience with responsibilities, skills, education and sometimes also hobbies. And recommended not to use a photo.

Yeah I’m torn on the photo, ultimately I feel its better to leave them out because you never know what unconscious (or just conscious) biases someone may have about you just by judging a photo.

Yeah I'm super torn too for exactly that reason. I'm such a visual person and really struggle to remember abstract things, so a face helps me remember "these details were about X person, and these details were about Y person" but ultimately I think what you mentioned trumps that.

FWIW, many big corps will have a policy to scrap the photo before it gets to the hiring manager, or maybe scrap the whole application outright. Same as they don't want to see genders, ages etc.

Yeah this seems to happen more and more nowadays, which is great imho.
