I do this all the time. When I say I don't have a properly functioning memory, everyone reacts with concern & care - until I say it's because of ADHD, at which point everyone relaxes & laughs. Why? Likely the idea that it's not something that gets worse, since similar symptoms could be the onset of something like dementia.
I already have the working memory of an 80 year old (no I'm not exaggerating, I have the graphs to prove it). There's not much to deteriorate here... I don't understand why it's not taken as seriously NOW already, as it is.

It is a big problem, it's why it also go undiagnosed so often. I had to grow up thinking everyone had to deal with those things, can't properly process time in my head, having to build my life around not ever remembering where I put things and triple checking everything.

But uh, you're right. ADD and ADHD are generally seen as a non problem or even a made up problem for some so the symptoms are lessened in their minds.
