It's unfortunately not true that "no one wants to hire a talented jerk". Jerks hire jerks, talented or otherwise.https://twitter.com/annabrandberg/status/1259985620866412544 …

I agree that soft skills are more important, by the way; but they're difficult to highlight in a CV to even *get* the interview in the first place, and also not terribly easy to highlight in the artifice of an interview setting.

I'd argue this point! Definitely list your soft skills on your CV - I did, and I know many others who do too :) In an interview this can be demonstrated by showing how you've actively tried to get feedback & how you've grown. Also by, y'know, talking.

Anna Brandberg @annabrandbergW odpowiedzi do @BeingOfNatureYeah I actually do have this on my CV! (It's wildly outdated, but you can see it on my website if you like.) Communicate the value you place on this in the texts on your portfolio. And then demonstrate it by explaining your thought process & growth as you describe each project.1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 1 polubiony -

Your CV is a very good example of how to do this, thank you. I also agree that a large part of selling yourself in an interview is not reiterating your tech skills (those are available at a glance), but showcasing your soft skills.

Thank you
And yeah totally agreed! Interviews are 10% to see if you were bullshitting about your competence, and 90% to figure you out as a person.
