I honestly cannot emphasise this enough... I would hire somebody who is 'pretty good in terms of technique, but good at communicating and shows a desire to learn & grow' a MILLION times over the 'superbly talented asshole'. Don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy.https://twitter.com/JeanLeggett/status/1257433245102284801 …

If you don't mind, what would be the best way to showcase soft skills in something like a CV? Pop them up top front and centre? Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask!! <3

Yeah I actually do have this on my CV! (It's wildly outdated, but you can see it on my website if you like.) Communicate the value you place on this in the texts on your portfolio. And then demonstrate it by explaining your thought process & growth as you describe each project.

It's important that your CV reflects who you are as a candidate & what you actually do! As someone who works with UX and UI, it's important that my CV demonstrates these skills. CVs are your "first impression". Recruiters browse through 100 CVs per day - ensure yours sticks out!

Aye that's very fair. Sadly my UI/graphic skills are pretty barren, but maybe I can draw a frame to surround the CV, that might be nice. Definitely need to work on putting some wow factor in, thank you very much!

You don't need to be a graphic artist to make a professional and slick CV. If your role is for eg UX or code, you can still make it look great by considering better fonts and a good layout to make it pleasant to look at and easy to read. Ps. Pls, no frame lol

As a sweet summer child, your cry of 'no frame' is duly noted
I'll take a look at some CVs then for nice flow and such. Bless and thank you for all your help!!

There are lots of online tools for this too if that's easier for you btw! I haven't used any myself, but I've had friends say that they've used a few and ended up with some slick looking CVs. Just make sure you don't overdo it - if you're unsure, keep it simple. Classy > kitschy.
