Looking at getting a longboard to commute/cruise around on. Anyone on here have one/use one and have any recommendations for a first-time buyer?

Go to a skate shop & ask someone there to help you get a board for your height/weight! It's worth getting a good quality board that you love and want to ride often, than wasting money on a cheap board that'll be frustrating to ride. I personally loved my Bamboo Flex Loaded board!

Thanks, I'm planning to go in next weekend. From my initial research I've my eye on the Dervish Sama.

You basically can't go wrong with anything from Loaded... Make sure you get big, soft wheels. The bigger the wheel, the more effort it'll be to pick up speed, but it'll sustain for much longer - ie. good for cruising. Also, you'll fly over little rocks easier!
