I had surgery near my neck so I look like Frankenstein and feel very ugly and hence, unworthy, unlovable. I *KNOW* this is not true but this got me thinking on all the very powerful social norms I grew up with, based on which I evaluate myself. These stitches don't define me, no?
The stitches & surgery marks will fade, and they do not in any way change any of what you are! You were beautiful before and are beautiful now. If you happen to get a scar, what a powerful memento of how great modern medicine is - and of how incredible your regenerating body is!
