I think if they were elected by workers you would see companies become more stable, and wealth would be less concentrated at the top and more evenly distributed to the lower and working class.

However I think if they were elected by the company ownership / shareholders then things would be much the same as now.

but maybe then all company profits would be spent slapping fake news bumber sticker slogans on the sides of buses by the current CEO?

Would they be elected by the workers or all of society?

I was thinking by the workers. Unless you've got thoughts on the other option too?

I guess the big challenge would be for the companies owners/founders to give away control of their companies. For publicly traded companies it would be possible (in theory) but I still would be amazed if big shareholder owners would "dare".
-
In theory both owners and employees would like the same thing, good environment and good wages for all employees while being profitable for owners. But fear for one rotten apple exploiting the system is probably a big stopper.

AFAIK all companies with shares have their board elected by the share holders, probably based on who will make them most money. But if changed to either be elected by the employees or the general public I basically see two different direction things could get pulled
-
There's the optimistic direction where leadership would have to focus more on what better for the general public or improving conditions for the workers.
