It took me a bit to figure out that they're not saying any and all jokes about women aren't ok or aren't funny. There's still a time and a place for the battle of the sexes - dinner parties with a light hearted joke, banter with a close friend etc.

It just means that making light of the systematic and continued oppression of women through jokes about domestic violence is not ok, and just proves that much still needs to be done regarding equality.

40% of domestic violence victims are men.

You realise that wherever you got that statistic from, for whichever region or country, that means 60% are women right? 60 is more than 40. What is your point here?

That domestic violence isn't a gender specific problem.

Like @l_w_88 said, the overwhelming majority is still women. And the main difference btwn them is that when men are abused, they're mostly just bruised. When women are abused they often end up DEAD. 3 women are murdered by their male partners PER DAY in the US. That's horrific.

A horrific crime. I wouldn't call majority women though. But yes due to biological differences, women tend to be hurt more physically when a victim of domestic abuse. I simply wanted to highlight it's not a sex issue. It's societal one. Where violence against anyone is tolerated.
