Sigh. Ok, so for those saying BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BEEFY MEN. Firstly, that was already addressed in the article I linked in the original thread. Secondly, that's a male power fantasy, not a female one. Lastly, nobody's trying to "take away your titties". Of course I love sexy art, of course I love boobs, of course I love a good butt. But there's a difference btwn SEXY & SEXUALISED. All I'm saying is female characters in games deserve better than to JUST be sex objects for men.

People are just bad at seeing the difference between criticism of something they like, and criticism of them for liking it. When your identity is so intrinsically linked to the things you like, the idea that thing might broaden its audience feels like an existential threat.
This is an irrational position, so it's difficult to reason it away. Attempting to just makes the conversation about them, rather than the point you were actually making. Which is a shame, because the point you are making shouldn't have to share a space with their egos.
