On my way out the door, I called out my last workplace’s use of them for even the most minor things like email marketing opt-ins. Legitimately took about 10mins of “This colour pairing usually means you’re selected ‘No’, but for us it means ‘yes’” to get the idea through... maybe
Yep, these things are important, and every company should take the time to evaluate the dark patterns in their own products. Or, if they're unable to do so themselves, then at least ask a UX Designer or similar to look over it for them.
This is a company whose IT department refused to do internal asset management and it was handed to the customer support team, so... ux? Hah
