I get called intimidating a fair bit. I'm guessing it's the tattoos & the fact that I speak my mind? I've learnt to take it as a compliment, in some weird way. So I think I might be around a 6-7? But honestly, watch me when there's a puppy nearby & you'll see I'm actually a 1!

Gosh, thank you! Why do these positive qualities get paired with such a (traditionally) negative word though?

-
Because positive qualities in women empower them and allow them to be a force which intimidates men and in turn causes those men to label those things as negatives and people just roll with it.
-
I can totally roll with this explanation.

I'm sorry but I fail to see where the negative part comes in? Is it the word "intimidating"? I don't think it's a very negative feeling. I get intimidated by people I respect a lot I'd say. I suppose it's fear of rejection. Some people can react badly to fear. Makes them insecure
-
Yeah I def think it's a socially conditioned word. Women are taught that it's bad to be intimidating & we grow up learning that we have to be likeable in order to be successful/happy/etc. And many people don't like intimidating women. So it's a difficult one for me to navigate...
