When I was a very young, very angry leftie, older people would smile gently and tell me that I was just naive, and that I'd become more conservative when I got older. And yet here I am, in my 30s, a grown ass adult - and I have never been angrier or leftier in my entire life.

I'd like to believe I was going to go that way no matter what, but having a wonderful friend group certainly helped. Initially I began to doubt my "fiscally conservative but socially liberal" upbringing and called myself "apolitical", then I listened and became convinced.

I distinctly remember a moment when my conservative grandma was watching the O'Reilly Factor while I was in the room and really seeing through his bullshit and realizing "oh hey I guess I'm liberal now" and I've since gone way left of liberal.
