Yeah, from the link you can tell the case is more complex than it seems.

I actually think it's relatively simple. There have been so many other cases like this... Society punishes threatening authority more than it does destroying women's lives. It's not just juvenile crimes - similar stories happen all the time for adult rapists too.
Less than 1% of rapes even lead to a conviction to begin with.
This is why so many rapes continue to go unreported; the trauma of it all is simply not worth it.
