Inb4: No, this is not an extremely rare and unheard-of case. It happens more often than you think - plenty of similar stories to find on Google if you're a doubter. Pls spare us the emotional labour and just believe us for a change. Women are being murdered - WOC even more so.

It's really important to separate the idea of sexual violence from the comparison of sexual consent 'gone wrong'. Sexual violence involves a partner completely disregarding the enjoyment and desires of the other. It is about personal entitlement and, usually, power.

Women play this delicate dance of 'How do I placate without putting myself at risk?' It's a negotiation of violence. It's purely about power, control, and the punishment of someone who has insulted or withheld. Sex is a tool in this violent exchange. Not the act itself.
