I'm so tired of being the one stepping aside for oncoming men on the street who don't even seem to acknowledge there's a person walking here. New rule: Time to just not. Let's see how many men get surprised and angry when they bump into me, because I didn't step aside for them.

Clarification: This isn't just a "manners" thing. Lately I've become so hyper aware of how it seems to almost always be women stepping aside to make space for men. (And, similarly - yet even more so, I see women of colour regularly stepping aside to make space for white people.)

Sometimes when I get really angry about this I just stop walking and stand still so they have to go around me. I'm so sick of being the one to step aside constantly.

I didn't think of it that way, I just get so angry of being overlooked or pushed aside that stopping makes me feel a little seen and they are forced to acknowledge me. It's not always a good idea. It would be so nice to not have to adjust behaviour because of theirs though.
