On the contrary, it's one of the fastest growing industries within tech right now, and we - now, more than ever - need more diverse people bringing their own unique flavours to making interactive stories that resonate with people from all backgrounds!
Games are for everybody! 
My only concern with game industry that I have a burning passion for not starving and having a healthy work/life balance.
What I read from developers that this industry is not very good at satisfying this. 
Which is exactly why game developers need to unionise! 
It is definitely getting better though - and the mobile gamedev industry is definitely far better at this than the console one, since we work with regular smaller deadlines rather than one single massive one...
