Finally updated my phone (I've been busy, ok...) and just noticed all the new gender neutral emotes as well as the ones displaying people with disabilities! So goooood - our world is diverse & I'm glad to see our technology starting to represent this more & more!

@facebook and@Twitter to catch up and stop smooshing the gender neutral emotes into the female ones...
And there are still several emotes missing entirely on Twitter... Like this working dog that instead magically turns into two emotes?

Iirc that last one has to do with how the emojis are written. Complex emojis are made of multiple simpler emojis connected with zero-width joiners. TBH that whole thread is an interesting look at how compound emojis are formed and how societal biases have impacted the language of emojis.
