If you're 18 and somebody 10+ years older wants to date you - that's not a compliment, that's CREEPY AF. There are so many red flags that you prob won't see until you're older & look back. Don't be flattered that someone older wants to date you - be creeped out. Don't walk, RUN!
Did they start dating when one was a teenager though? That said, that's great that it worked out for them. I'm aware people are individuals and that there are exceptions to every rule...
