I contrast this with the one time I needed emergency care in the USA: my leg got infected and very swollen, and I went to a USA hospital for all of 10 minutes to get a scrip for painkillers and antibiotics. Total price? $2400. Thankfully covered by Blue Cross when I got home.
Yep. When in Sweden last year I got a massive infection on my leg from an insect bite... Was at the emergencies for about 20 min, chatted to a doctor the next day with no wait time, and got an armfull of medication I can't pronounce from the pharmacy next door for less than $6.
Even better, my friend just had a life threatening emergency, was put on a machine for a month, and had to have 3 emergency surgeries on his lungs. When he finally got home after living at the hospital for 2 months, his bill for EVERYTHING was under $50. #UniversalHealthcare
