I do both and actually wish games and games UX was more like commercial in its unrelenting pursuit of user-friendliness.
Oh my god saaaaame. I'm assuming that it might be because UX is such a (relatively) new area within game development, but devs are becoming more & more aware of how crucial it is... So I suspect (read: hope desperately) that it'll catch up soon enough!

When you think about it UX/UI is MORE important in games than in say software tools. People will still use miserable software if it gets them what they want but nobody will play a miserable game.

So true. And I think that the games industry is slowly realising this too as they try to leverage themselves over competitors for player's attention... Fingers crossed that this continues and grows!
