Today I had a guy (a body piercer, who apparently reads Kotaku occasionally) explain to me (a professional gamedev with 4.5 yrs AAA experience): 1. Streamers are bad for the games industry & are responsible for the "workplace displacement" that he reckons is happening in games.
2. This would apparently be "illegal in social countries with better regulation." 3. Streamers are apparently "helping tech business churn & burn, and that is causing a downturn in wages." For game developers... somehow? 4. "Ain't no such thing as free money, girl."pic.twitter.com/47pilJx8Md
5. By streaming occasionally & earning a few beers' worth of $$/month, playing my fav game for an audience of about 12 people, I'm apparently shooting myself in the foot professionally. "In the long game". "Holistically". "I'm "contributing to the machine that's eating my job."

I took some time to process and then responded with possibly the longest, most beautiful smackdown I have ever written (with a little help from my friends 
ofc) explaining just how absurd his statements were and why.
Needless to say, he got upset & blocked me almost instantly.
Gotta love the guys who have no problems insulting your job, your hobbies and your peers - but when you turn around and point out the flaws in their arguments and why they're wrong, they get upset because somehow you're the one making it personal.pic.twitter.com/GZt5ZpJxKF
I told him I don't enjoy having my own industry mansplained at me by a guy who clearly doesn't know the first thing about neither game development nor streaming.
He then proceeded to display a delightful lack of self awareness and called me a "condescending asshole".
