Alright so my grandad is in the hospital and... I don’t care? I don’t hate him. I don’t love him. I just nothing him. He’s really bigoted and hinted at my ex dropping her towel on her way out of the shower once and ever since then he’s been dead to me. Am I too unforgiving?
You're not obliged to care for somebody simply because you have blood ties to them. If it's causing you anxiety, perhaps take a moment to acknowledge and work through that - but I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Take care of yourself and of those you care for. The rest is

As pix said though it’s easier to not care, but my apathy here has repercussions for people I DO love I think, so while I won’t compromise on beliefs and accept him back so to speak, I can be civil for the sake of others. I do think I should aim to be more considerate though.
