It's certainly not a bad way to do it, but in my experience it's unnecessary. It will weep overnight but it's usually just reabsorbed back into the skin during the next day. Some people like to just do a full change of second skin the next day instead.
Yeah the times I've tried to apply it on the first night I've had to do a full change too - and it just leaked all over my sheets in the process... 
But yep, if you can skip a step and simplify your life, then by all means do that!
Haha preach it. But yeah, if it ain't broke don't fix it, and were also using different products so it's possibly my experience is different because the formula is different. Just wanted to let you know of an alt method if you wanted to try it
