Can it not just be called an esport gamer event, what does gender have to do with it? Is it a surprise that woman want the same exposure, acceptance and praise that everyone should get regardless. Gaming unites so many people, this only divides again...
I totally appreciate there being an event for women as all other events cater almost exclusively for male gamers. What bothers me is the name & branding which are infantalising. Girl gamer is a term that's been used to insult us for years too. (eg Nobody calls you a 'boy gamer'.)
Not knowing the full situation or the length of time before it kicks off. I hope there is time for a change or re-branding. And yes, never been called a boy gamer so why should I call anyone else a girl gamer? You're just a person who enjoys and appreciates games like me. Simple
Yeah I hope so. Even something like Women's Esports Festival, or simplified as GG Sydney Festival (as @JoelVanDaal suggested) or even something completely unrelated to gender - as none of the men's events mention gender to begin with, so why does ours?
